"No one performing today is his equal. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.” – Chronicle Jazz
“The Crown Prince of New York Cabaret" -- that's what the New York Times called Steve Ross some 20 years ago and he hasn't lost his title yet. In fact, the only change today would be dropping "New York", because in the past decade, Steve has performed around the world from The Ritz in London, the Crillon in Paris to the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, in addition to festivals, theatre and solo shows and masterclasses in Hong Kong, Perth and Spoleto.
Don’t miss the unique opportunity to experience Steve Ross, a master musician and world-class entertainer live in performance. Direct from his sensational season of “Good Thing Going” at the Oak Room at the Hotel Algonquin, Manhattan.
When Steve Ross renders a song by Sondheim, Porter, Coward or Berlin, it’s like hearing it for the first time.
His performances are like a masterclass in the art of intimate musical theatre. And, as a treat for Sydney cabaret lovers, he’s giving us three separate shows to savour, in a flying visit of just three nights!
Steve will present three different shows at our harbour city’s home of cabaret, Bar Me at Brougham Street, Kings Cross.
Thursday 3rd July - Good Thing Going: a tribute to Stephen Sondheim; new insights to the mini masterpieces of what many consider to be our greatest living theatrical composer.
Friday 4th July - Cabaret Creme: the songs of Porter, Coward, the Gershwins, Kern, Berlin and more: an evening of vintage classics… and some surprises!
Saturday 5th July - To Wit: Ross on Wry… Steve Ross turns his considerable interpretive talents to amusing, witty and downright naughty novelty and revue songs, including those of Porter, Coward, Berlin, Flanders & Swan and Tom Lehrer.
