Following last year’s Fruit Tingle Cabaret success, the Judith Wright Centre and Chris Maver Productions have been busy sharpening makeup pencils for the premiere season of In The Pink en Rose Cabaret from Wed 11-Sat 14 June.
In search of the most exceptional talent for this daring cabaret season, In The Pink Producer and Director, Chris Maver has likened the casting process to mining pink diamonds.
“I hand-picked a rainbow role-call of Australia’s spunkiest, pink cabaret talent – to entertain, to celebrate and to acknowledge ‘Queer Arts’, taking that queer terminology out of the ghetto and into the spotlight of wellbeing and happiness,” he said.
Starring an exceptional cast, Maver’s on-stage sparklers include:
Mistress of Ceremonies, Ruth Gardner,
Realising rouge dreamings, physical performers Fez Fa'anana & Mark Winmill,
Newcomer and dreamy vocalist Ofa Fanaika,
Crimson song and story conspirator Kristy Apps,
Queensland’s Best Drag King ’07, Mary Alexander introducing the ballsy, bogan, love god, ‘Tricky’,
Aerial artiste and Australia’s Queen of Burlesque, Imogen Kelly,
Silver Sircus’ spoken word and songsters Lucinda Shaw and James Lees,
Star accompanist Gary Nunn, flaming flamingo designer, John Beamish and choreographer facilitator, Alethea Athanasiov,
And making a one-off special pink appearance on Saturday night will be Dr Strangefruit, Chris Maver.
This project has been partially funded by Healthy Communities Fund, a youth mentorship component in association with Open Doors. Contains Adult Themes.
