Three choirs, one voice: a cross-cultural celebration of sacred masterpieces from different traditions, cultures and lands.
Three varsity choral forces combine to present a dynamic, 150-voice-strong cross-cultural performance of sacred masterpieces from different traditions, countries and eras.
The acclaimed Hong Kong Baptist University Choir, one of China’s leading musical ensembles, having achieved great success at home and abroad, will appear in Melbourne on its first Australian tour.
Joining this award-winning choir will be two of Melbourne’s leading tertiary choruses– the one-hundred-voice Melbourne University Choral Society and the Australian Catholic University Choir.
The concert will feature an impressive recital of choral music from a variety of traditions, including works by Mozart, Bruckner, Rachmaninov, Victoria (Vittoria) and several Chinese composers, and will culminate in a massed finale featuring Samuel Koi Hin Kwok’s spirited Mandarin setting of Psalm 100.
Over 150 voices will take to the stage in the newly-renovated splendour of the Australian Catholic University’s Central Hall. The choirs will perform together and separately.
The collaboration celebrates the universal language of music and the strong cultural friendship that currently exists between Australia and China.
