She’s Queer Folk and She’s Queer 2 Print
ARIA-Award winning Lou Bennett and Judy Small lead Gasworks’ queer folk concerts

Top of the bill at She’s Queer Folk are The Sweet Cheeks (Lou Bennett, Alex Gate-Eastley and Phil Collings), who present a simple combination of harmonies, acoustic guitar, bass and drums over lyrics that celebrate diversity, reconciliation, cultural exchange and respect, have toured to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Adelaide’s WOMAD.

Also featured is Australian folk music icon Judy Small. Judy has ten albums, hundreds of songs and a song book to her credit. In 1990, she received the prestigious "Mo" Award for Australian Folk Performer of the Year and in 1997 was the Port Fairy Folk Festival Artist of the Year. Judy has regularly toured in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand, and her songs have been recorded by artists such as Ronnie Gilbert, Eric Bogle, The McCalmans, The Corries, Charlie King and Priscilla Herdman.

She’s Queer 2 features Melbourne based singer/songwriter Michelle Parsons. With an all female line up, Michelle recorded her debut album Uncover Me featuring twelve original tracks which display incredible diversity and style.

Also performing are Milk the Duo, an original pub folk pair featuring award-winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Helen Begley and singer Emily Hayes. In 2004 Milk launched their critically acclaimed single Souvenir then followed it with the release of their first full length album Golden Ring Life.

Rounding out the She’s Queer 2 bill is Liz Stringer, an original acoustic contemporary roots artist who has released her debut album Soon. Liz’s music fuses folk, blues, and bluegrass and she was hand-picked to support touring circuit staple Mia Dyson on her recent national tour. She has also supported Jen Cloher & the Endless Sea, Ash Grunwald, Ember Swift (USA) and Jess McAvoy.
