Rattle those pots ‘n’ pans!
A three-course feast of cooking, music and mayhem, Kitchen Diva will satisfy all tastes. A dark and witty play, full of sweet and sour songs from Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Gershwin and Elvis!
It’s Joe’s Birthday. He’s busy in the kitchen preparing a celebratory dinner, hoping to rekindle his relationship with his estranged wife, Megan. But the preparations for such an important night are complicated enough without having the constant interruptions from the ghost of his cabaret singing mother.
Emerging from the pantry, in full show stopping glamour she belts out advice concerning love, life and false teeth as she sings from her extensive repertoire of cabaret hits. Things could get messy once Megan arrives but “the show must go on”.
This play is a bizarre love triangle between a son, his mother, and his ex-wife. It’s a little bit delicious. It’s a little wicked. It is both brutal and sensual. It’s got some great songs and some really memorable characters and an ending that’ll knock your teeth out. Linda Hassall
