Hot from touring Australia as the spectral Sir Noël in the hit musical comedy, Two Old Queens, Western Australian based cabaret singer, John Michael Swinbank is part of the prestigious musical series - Hale School’s 2008 Visiting Artists Program - which includes famous Australian pianist, Roger
Woodward, violinist Claudia Zorbas and acclaimed group, The Idea of North.
John Michael is joined on stage by the brilliant pianist, Mark Coughlan, in a two act presentation of the witty songs by Noël Coward, Cole Porter and Stephen Sondheim.
John Michael has an international reputation for his distinctive interpretation of Coward’s repertoire. A veteran of 20 or so international tours his career highlights include the re-opening of the world famous Raffles Hotel in 1991, gala performances aboard Cunard ocean-liner, QE2 and a special invitation to fire Hong Kong’s legendary Noonday Gun, immortalised by Coward in Mad Dogs & Englishmen and fired by him in 1968.
John Michael and Mark take to the stage at 7.30pm, May 21 at Hale in the superb John Inverarity Music and Drama Centre Auditorium (Unwin Avenue, Wembley Downs) one of the state’s finest acoustic venues.
