You might not have heard of Dave Bloustien, but you’ve probably heard one of his jokes. A multi-award winning comedy writer, Dave was part of the writing team on the much loved The Glass House and has gone on to write for Good News Week, The Sideshow, The Melbourne Comedy Festival Great Debate, Triple J and more.
And he has a PhD in Jewish punk literature, so he’s officially smart as pants.
This year, Dave makes his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with BEASTLY— roughly 60 minutes of politically inflected stand-up about Africa. But before he does, he’ll warm up with a short preview season at the Old Fitzroy Hotel in Woolloomooloo.
Topics include the Johannesburg Taxi Driver mafia, elephant brains, how to get yourself lynched, the Zimbabwe asbestos trade and the wealthiest charity in the world (which isn’t the one you’d expect).
“an intelligent and funny guy, laid back and engaging … here’s a comic who knows how to craft a strong line onto any topic - and with the smarts to ensure he’s covering ground few others have trodden” Steve Bennett, chortle.co.uk
“unusually witty and intelligent” Drum Media
