This play is a modern version of the seduction of Adam by Eve. After a
chance meeting in a museum, Evelyn, a sexy, aggressive artist, and
Adam, a shy, insecure student, become embroiled in an intense affair
that soon veers into the kind of dangerous, seductive territory that
Labute does best. This witty, firecracker play may be aligned with a
reversal of the roles in Pygmalion, or my Fair Lady. It questions our
society’s focus on image - miracle makeovers such as The Biggest Loser,
Queer Eye for The Straight guy, Cosmo magazines and society’s view of
what is the “perfect” person. This intelligent, black comedy is
deliberately disturbing and attention grabbing. It highlights our
obsession with the surface and shape of people, their appearance and
the meaning of art.
A breathtaking look at truth and design in today’s society
