Frost/Nixon | Melbourne Theatre Company Print
David Frost’s television interviews with Richard Nixon in 1977, following the Watergate scandal and the US President’s humiliating resignation, drew the largest audience ever for a news interview.

FROST/NIXON, written by Peter Morgan (the award-winning author of The Queen and The Last King of Scotland), tackles the question: How did David Frost, a famous British talk-show host with a playboy reputation, elicit the apology that the rest of the world was waiting to hear from the man who committed one of the biggest felonies in American political history?

A critically acclaimed sell-out in the West End and on Broadway, this fast-paced new play takes audiences into the minds of Nixon and Frost and shows the determination, conviction and lengths that these two men, and their closest confidantes, went to as they took the stage in one of the most hard fought political interviews of all time.

Former MTC Artistic Director Roger Hodgman returns to direct John Adam (The Give and Take) as Frost and Marshall Napier (McLeod's Daughters) as Nixon.

FROST/NIXON is Peter Morgan’s first stage play.  His film credits include screenplays for The Other Boleyn Girl. The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, Martha – Meet Frank, Daniel & Laurence, The Silent Touch and Dear Rosie.  TV credits include Longford, The Deal (BAFTA Award for Best Single Drama), Henry VIII (International Emmy for Best Drama, 2004), The Jury, Micky Love and Shalom Joan Collins.

FROST/NIXON received its World Premiere at London’s Donmar Warehouse in August 2006 and transferred to the West End’s Gielgud Theatre in November 2006 before opening on Broadway in April 2007.

“A terrific new play that is as thought-provoking as it is gripping and entertaining.  What’s more, like all good history, it illuminates the present while examining the past.” - Daily Telegraph

“Riveting theatre, with the low punches and dynamism of a boxing match and the high tension of courtroom drama.” - The Times

“A victory!  FROST/NIXON is a nail biting thriller with the zing of a comedy!” - The New York Times
