Emanuel Ax Plays Chopin | Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Print
Chopin, Poland’s most famous composer, was only 19 when he performed his second concerto for the first time. It contains the moonlight poetry, rhythmic vitality and exquisite keyboard writing for which his music is so admired, and will be played by one of the great Chopin pianists of our day, his compatriot Emanuel Ax.

Finnish master Jean Sibelius had a command of orchestral colour and an acute sensitivity to landscape. His Fifth Symphony is compact yet heroic, epic in scope yet enormously concentrated in expression. Its famous finale, with its swinging horn theme, is intensely rousing.
