Hello Dolly Print
Hello Dolly"Hello, Dolly!"

A delightful musical based upon the book by Michael Stewart
Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman
Directed by Janet Brandwood

Widowed but brassy matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi makes a living through what she calls "meddling" – matchmaking and numerous sidelines including dance instruction and mandolin lessons.

She travels to visit her client, grumpy Horace Vandergelder, a prominent citizen and wealthy bachelor in need of a wife to tend to himself and his home. It is soon clear, however, that Dolly intends to marry Horace herself and to "send his money circulating among the people like rainwater," the way her late husband taught her.

A web of complicated entanglements ensues, culminating in a free‐for‐all anda trip to night court. However, Dolly manages to save the day and settle things to her satisfaction.

This is surely an entertaining show which will find you singing along to well known songs such as “Hello Dolly”,“It Takes a Woman”, “Put on Your Sunday Clothes”,“Before the Parade Passes By” and “Elegance”.

Set in the 1890s, this lively musical was based on the play “The Matchmaker” by Thornton Wilder, and was first performed in New York in January 1964. It was later adapted into a film starring Barbara Streisand as Dolly Levi and Walter Matheau as Horace Vandergelder.
