Dead White Males is a funny and biting satire on University life. Angela is keen to impress her lecturer with her work on Feminism and what it means today. So keen in fact she is willing to go to extraordinary lengths to prove her point. She summons Shakespeare and promptly criticizes him for his women and sets about interviewing her family to prove her point. On her journey of discovery, she uncovers some interesting secrets about her family and the past, some that leave her family reeling.
The play poses some interesting questions and the audience can judge whether she finds her answers. One thing is certain when you add a 400 year old writer a lecturous Doctor and a dysfunctional family with some secrets to hide, you have all the ingredients of a very funny Williamson play.
Henry Jennings is an experienced director who last year directed his first professional production at Belvoir Street Downstairs and has assembled a talented cast do bring the Dead White Males back to life.
Peninsula Theatre Company is a not for profit theatre company based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, bringing quality drama to audiences up and down the peninsula.
The show opens on the 8th May atManly’s wonderful Star of the Sea Theatre attached to the Stella MarisSchool.The theatre is a 300 seater venue, with state of the art facilities allowing independent companies access to a larger audience.
