Youth Ballet WA Print
Youth Ballet WAThis vital, energetic, young Perth ballet company, whose artistic director is Terri Charlesworth OAM, will present excerpts from the classical ballet Don Quixote and a contemporary divertissement called Gods and Heroes – four newly-choreographed pieces by the students, representing the Gods Hades, Artemis, Aphrodite and Zeus. Don Quixote is based on the famous Miguel de Cervantes novel Don Quixote de la Mancha and was choreographed by Petipa. Léon Minkus provided the score.

The 30 certificate students of the junior professional course of Youth Ballet WA will demonstrate why they constantly win prestigious, international prizes and places in overseas companies such as the celebrated New York City Ballet. Over the years, many dancers from the West Australian Ballet have received their training from Terri Charlesworth. An Order of the Medal of Australia and WA Citizen of the Year Award acknowledge Ms Charlesworth’s contribution to dance and perhaps confirm the standard of her students.

These beautifully-dressed excerpts will enchant all who love classical dance and superb music.
