Throwback Players is excited to announce their major production for 2008 to be the popular musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Performances will be held at Union House Theatre at the University of Melbourne, from 16 May to 24 May.

Associated with the University of Melbourne’s Union House Theatre, Throwback Players is preparing for their most ambitious production to date.

With a young cast and crew comprising years of theatrical experience, Sweeney Todd promises to be a thrilling spectacle for all.

Director Gavin Ballard is sure the production will thrill all audience members. “Sondheim has constructed an epic morality tale that is laced with suspense, emotion, and an irreverent dark sense of humour.”

Fresh from his 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, It’s All Fun and Games ‘Til Someone Loses an Eye, Reuben Krum stars as Sweeney Todd, under the musical direction of Ben Kiley, most recently of Monty Python’s Spamalot.
