LA SCALA COMES TO AUSTRALIA
Bringing the magic of the world’s most famous
opera house to the big screen.

The legendary magic and tradition of La Scala (Teatro alla Scala), the most famous opera house in history, can finally be experienced without traveling to Italy through the La Scala Opera Series screening at Greater Union, Birch Carroll & Coyle INDOOROOPILLY, PACIFIC FAIR & MAROOCYHDORE CINEMA and Village Cinemas across Australia.

La Scala Opera Series offers the spectacle and drama of classic opera productions performed by today’s leading international opera singers, filmed in stunning Digital High definition with the highest quality Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and brought to life on the big screen.

From 26 April, La Scala Opera Series will begin with the production of Giuseppi Verdi’s classic La Traviata, is directed by Liliana Cavani and conducted by one of today’s most pre-eminent conductors, Lorin Maazel. Six additional classic operatic productions also slated for the big screen are; Verdi’s AIDA (La Scala) 17/18 May, Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda (La Scala) 7/8/June, Puccini’s La Rondine (Teatro La Fenice) 28/29 June, Verdi’s La Forza del Destino (Maggio Musicale) 19/20 July, Puccini’s Il Trittico (La Scala) 9/10 August and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (La Scala) 30/31 August.

“La Scala Opera Series is for lovers of music, lovers of film and lovers of dramatic entertainment. The quality of these performances is amazing in production, direction and most importantly, sound.” Said Ross Entwistle, Managing Director of AHL Entertainment. “With the atmosphere of the greatest opera theatre in the world, La Scala Opera Series offers audiences the added dimension of getting up close and personal to drama and the singers as they perform in some of the world’s best loved opera classics.

”Founded in 1778, La Scala is widely considered the greatest opera house in history. It has been home to many of the most renowned composers, conductors and virtuoso singers of the international opera world.

Each opera production in the La Scala Opera Series will screen at 2.00pm on a Saturday and Sunday.
