Put on your dancing shoes and head to QPAC’s Cascade Court this Saturday, 19 April, for an action-packed afternoon of FREE Rockabilly entertainment.
From 1pm until 5pm, some of Brisbane’s best Rockabilly acts will be firing up QPAC’s outdoor stage in the second Front Yard Music event for 2008.
The afternoon of entertainment will kick off with DJ Lori Lee, who’s passion for rockabilly music and tunes from the past is kept alive by her incessant hunting and collecting of music from all parts of the world, which she delights in playing to audiences.
At 1.30pm, join The Ten Fours who first loaded up and hit the highways in late 2003 and have been rocking up a storm in and around Brisbane since, playing a style of hard haulin', gear jammin', Detroit diesel powered Rockabilly, Rock-roll, Blues and Country.
Miss Teresa & Her Rhythmaires who will crank up the pace with sizzling tunes from the 1950s from 2.45pm. Possessing a strong passion for mid-century Rockabilly, the band mixes high-energy rockabilly and country to create a fresh, upbeat sound capturing the reckless, adventurous abandon of this heady time.
Concluding the afternoon of rocking entertainment will be The Tailspin Trio. Featuring Doug Wilshire on vocals, electric, acoustic, steel, and banjo guitars, Paul Burke on double bass and vocals and Sigmund Von Stein on drums, The Tail Spin Trio plays originals written by Doug and covers such classics as My Girl and Throw Your Arms Around Me, in their own hillbilly/swing/country style. Be prepared for a bit of Johnny Cash too.
