Players is proud to present Kiss Me Kate
- Cole Porter's cheeky musical take on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew - as their 2008 production from 16-18
May.
This 1999 revival
version of Porter's original award winning 1948 stage show is a clever
play-within-a-play which centres on the opening night antics of a somewhat
dysfunctional musical theatre company.
For the four main characters, the lines between on-stage and off-stage
become blurred as the reality of back stage life complicates on-stage
relationships and performances. Hilarity
ensues and is complimented by an equally witty Porter score which includes such
treasures as ‘So in Love', ‘Wunderbar', ‘Too Darn Hot', and ‘Always True to You
(In My Fashion)'. Featuring a fabulously
talented cast, full orchestra accompaniment, breathtaking sets and lavish
costumes Kiss Me Kate is sure to
please audiences of all ages.
