The Guinness Comedy Zone Print
Roll up, roll up for a comedy carnivale. Four of Australia’s best up-and-coming talents are coming to town, with stylings so different, it’ll give you comedy whiplash!

The GUINNESS Comedy Zone is the Comedy Festival’s annual showcase of the four best emerging stand-up performers from around the country, cast and produced by the Festival. This year’s GUINNESS Comedy Zone cast are not merely the hot new things in comedy – they are weird, wonderful and off the planet! And, with the help of director Justin Hamilton, they have a full Festival season to show off their comedy wares.

Festival staff scour the country throughout the year to find emerging performers of high quality. There are only four spots, and being cast is a real commendation for a new talent.

Allow us to introduce The GUINNESS Comedy Zone for 2007. They’re distinct, intense, and right out of left of left field!:
Hannah Gadsby (Tasmania) was last year’s Raw Comedy winner and runner-up at Edinburgh’s “So You Think You’re Funny”. After gigs in Edinburgh she spent the rest of 2006 on the New York circuit and this year has presented shows in Hobart and Adelaide.
Michael Williams (Warrnambool) is a visual gagster who came second to Hannah in last year’s Raw Comedy Grand Final.
Celia Pacquola (Melbourne) won the inaugural Raw Recruit prize for best Raw firsttimer in 2006.
Ben Ellwood (Sydney) started his comedy career in Sydney open mic rooms before taking part in Raw Comedy in 2006, where he was a NSW State Finalist. He can currently be seen on the Comedy Channel’s “Stand Up Australia” series.

Better strap yourself in for The GUINNESS Comedy Zone. This could be a very, very funny ride.
