The all-ages FREE live music keeps coming to the Cascade Court as part of QPAC’s impressive Nights Outside program for 2008.
Saturday 29th March sees Young and Restless take to the stage. This five piece outfit originally from Canberra have come a long way since their formation early in 2005.
From scoring airplay on national and international radio stations (such as JJJ and Indie 301 in Los Angeles) to sharing the stage with Johnny Boy (UK), Erase Errata (US) Rogers Sisters (US), The Mint Chicks (NZ) and Cansei De Ser Sexy (Brazil), the band has scored reviews from world top music blogs Fluxblog, Music For Robots, and Big Stereo for their track ‘Satan’ and built a reputation for their intense and sweaty live shows around the country.
On top of performing at the sold out Homebake, the band has also been lined up to perform at the Soundwave Festival. The band, now split based in Canberra and Melbourne, are currently recording a self-funded album with Tom Larkin at Studios in the City, Melbourne that will be ready mid this year.
Supporting Young and Restless is Flamingo Crash, who originally formed in Brisbane back in 2005. After great local success the band headed south to Melbourne and continued to gather fans.
Recent overseas and Australian tours have further cemented Flamingo Crash as a live act that has to be seen to be truly experienced. After releasing the limited edition Shoot the Lights Out 7” on green vinyl, the band have recorded their debut album TRIANGLE ISLAND, produced by Magoo (Midnight Oil, Regurgitator, Gerling) in the Australian bush at a converted 'Lynch adorned' church and mastered in New York City by Steve Fallone (The Strokes, Sonic Youth, TV on the Radio).
