Take two big talents, with even bigger personalities and personal attributes, combine skits, tricks and song and sit back and prepare to be amazed at what the irrepressible Emma Powell and Bev Killick do when they take a most irreverent look at that much revered embodiment of womanhood – the breast. Busting Out! reinvents how we look at breasts and notions of what breasts are for, what they can do and discovers that there is far more to the humble boob than previously imagined. Busting Out! will open in Brisbane at the Twelfth Night Theatre on June 11.
“In this day and age the silicone enhanced, strategically placed appendage is admired for its beauty and image of perfection. Busting Out! takes real boobs and has a lot of fun with those idealised wobbly bits of flesh that are sexy and alluring to some, nurturing and beautiful to others and useful and funny to us,” says Emma.
Months of rehearsals have resulted in some spectacular mammary manipulation and very numb nipples to produce truly amazing and outrageous tricks including the Plumbers Crack, the Baby and the Donut as well as some hilarious demonstrations as to how boobs may be enhanced and utilised in daily life.
Before creating Busting Out! Emma was well known for her roles in hit musicals such as Mamma Mia!, Fiddler on the Roof and Les Misérables. Busting Out! audiences will hear her fabulous voice when she performs a series of comic show-stoppers cleverly exposing all that is good and outrageous about breasts.
Bev Killick is a highly sought after Melbourne comedian and actor who brings her exceptional comic talents to Busting Out! An accomplished performer on both stage and television Bev’s career ranges from her one woman show to appearances in Kath and Kim and the stage production of Beauty and the Beast.
With more front than Myer, the bosom-buddies are bringing their laugh-out-loud show which has women cheering on their feet and men gasping in amazement, out of Melbourne direct to the Sunshine State. They invite Brisbane to walk abreast down mammary lane with them, and enjoy their uplifting celebration of bouncy songs, wobbly jokes, thigh-slapping sketches, and of course, practical demonstrations of the fascinating lesser-known uses of womankind’s most famous – and ultimately, doomed to droop, assets.
