Following the sold-out success of Zen's Red Mouth (Blue Room 2006), Mythophobic Productions brings you the World Premiere of Hope is the saddest, showing at The Blue Room Studio from June 12 - 30.
This exciting full-length version follows the successful debut
monologue presented at Shorts and Smalls (ARTRAGE Festival 2006).
Combining performance, puppetry, song and subversion, Hope is the
saddest tells the story of Hope, a young woman who has made it her
mission to bring the world happiness by sharing her love for Dolly
Parton. Watch as Hope attempts to win over one man - the homosexual
love of her life - and cure cancer with the power of Dolly.
The creative team; Michelle Anderson, Natalie Holmwood and Jeffrey Jay Fowler (writer/director Zen's Red Mouth)
graduated together from ECU in 2005 with BA Contemporary Performance
jointly delivered by WAAPA and SOCA (School of Contemporary Arts).
The trio has collaborated on several shows since graduating including The Love Pirate and Motor City Blues,
which toured to the Adelaide Fringe in 2006. Their collective Dolly
Parton passion drew them together for this latest devised project, a
show inspired by Dolly's music and lyrics.
Hope is the Saddest
is for people of all ages. If you are a Dolly Parton fan, Christian,
homosexual, emotional baggage junkie, or none of the above, this is the
heartbroken comedy you must see!
