“I can’t believe how wonderful this is. To have you here. In front
of me. That we achieved this. Against everything. Against all the
odds. We found each other”.
Following successful tours of the play in 2006, including a three week
season at The Playhouse Theatre, Perth, Australia’s Premier Theatre
Touring Company, HIT Productions is pleased to announce the 2007 tour of Joanna Murray-Smith’s Love Child starring one of Australia’s most acclaimed leading ladies, Amanda Muggleton (Prisoner, Steaming, Shirley Valentine, Masterclass). From one of Australia’s most significant Playwrights (Honour and Nightfall) comes this truly compelling drama about a reconciliation between a mother and the daughter she gave away at birth. Anna (Amanda Muggleton) is a successful film editor in her 40’s who lives alone in a cold, stylish apartment, until a young woman called Billie (talented WAAPA graduate, Melinda Dransfield) arrives at her door. Billie
acts in soap operas and is searching for her birth mother. Together
these two fractured women confront the implications of distance;
between then and now, between generations and between the one who gave
away and the one who was let go.
Love Child boasts the exceptional talents of Director, Bruce Myles (HIT’s Hotel Sorrento), Designer, Judith Cobb (HIT’s Barmaids) and Lighting Designer, Rachel Burke (HIT’s Wallflowering).
“Powerful, gripping, poignant and revealing, Love Child flings its
audience along an emotional rollercoaster ride…yet another stunning
production from Christine Harris…” Canberra Times, ACT
