Sublime | Katie Noonan & Australian Chamber Orchestra Print
Katie NoonanIn March 2008 the ACO welcomes Katie Noonan for her debut with the Orchestra in a program which explores British song through the ages from 17th century Purcell to present day Radiohead.

Recognised as one of the most distinctive talents in Australian contemporary music and with a voice of extraordinary beauty and expressive range, Katie Noonan has topped both pop and jazz charts, blown away opera fanatics, and performed alongside countless luminaries in a myriad of fields. The purity and adaptability of her angelic voice is perfectly suited for this cavalcade of English song through the ages.

Katie Noonan’s dexterous voice will traverse the centuries to illustrate the character of British song with music from Purcell, Handel, Holst, Britten, Tavener, Nick Drake, Sting and Radiohead.

The sensuous Five Variants of ‘Dives and Lazarus’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams continues the program’s exploration of the folkloric mysteries and majesty of England. A dreamy, romantic small work for string orchestra and harp, it is based on a well-known folk tune.

Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro – an epic yet succinct work will showcase the extraordinary talents of the ACO strings.
