The Queen of Bingo Print
Ellis Productions and the Whitehorse Centre present the Australian premiere performances of The Queen of Bingo on February 21, 22 and 23 as part of a 2008 regional tour. Adapted for Australian audiences The Queen of Bingo explores the worlds of Bingo, family ties, hot flushes, diet crazes, widowhood and winning!

Evelyn Krape and Kelly Nash play “Sis” and “Babe”. Sis and Babe are sisters and best friends. They've been coming to play Bingo together for years because they love it. Sis is a good loser who just loves to play. Babe is a player who has to win. Sis is naturally fit and trim. Babe is naturally overweight and always fighting the battle of the bulge. Sis is content in her widowhood. Babe is still looking for love. They complement each other in ways only sisters can and they drive each other crazy in that same sisterly fashion. The time is right for change for both these women and who knows, tonight might be their lucky night.

The audience joins in the Bingo fun by playing the “Middle Bird Special”, a real bingo game where some lucky audience member wins a frozen turkey at each performance. Theatregoers young and old will howl with laughter at the crazy antics.

A hilarious look into the lives of two sisters on either side of 50 who are addicted to games of chance.

Evelyn Krape is one of Melbourne's best known and most loved stage performers with over 30 years experience, having performed with every major company from the MTC, Playbox and the Victorian Opera to La Mama and Eleventh Hour. She joined the Australian Performing Group in 1970 when it moved into the Pram Factory, performing in such classic Australian works as Dimboola and Don's Party. She has performed in numerous productions of Shakespeare in the Gardens and has toured extensively with a number of one-woman shows including Emma Celabrazione! and Ironing Out The Wrinkles.

Kelly Nash has many experiences in television, stage and film. She has performed in Neighbours, Stingers, Blue Heelers and Backberner. Between 1994 and 2000, Kelly performed and co-wrote productions for Regional Arts Victoria, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival and The Adelaide Fringe Festival. During 2007 Kelly has been engaged in Body Image performances for schools around Melbourne. Stage credits include the nurse in Romeo and Juliet (Trades Hall); The Condon Dialogues, Being a Woman is good for your health and The No Means Show.
