There is no better place to meet the infamous Toad of Toad Hall and his friends Ratty, Badger, Mole, Weasel and Otter than in the exquisite setting of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens from 5th January 2008 as Kenneth Grahame’s immortal story of life on the riverbank is brought to life.
This delightful promenade production has become a traditional summer event providing enchanting and lively family entertainment. There’s lots of audience participation for the young ‘wabbits’ who are encouraged to become involved in the action, they are given every opportunity to scream out loud, sing along and become part of the adventure. The costumes are wonderful and there is fun for young and old as the Head Chief Rabbit transforms the audience into wabbits – with a waggle of the ears, a wiggle of the nose and a promise not to dwop any wabbit wubbish as they move through the gardens.
This much-loved tale of the riverbank folks’ madcap adventures has long been a family favourite and no wonder: the characters are unforgettable and the story is a gem so pack a picnic, pack the kids and enjoy a day out in the beautiful Botanic Gardens for this not to be missed children’s theatrical adventure.
