2007 Christmas Proms | Adelaide Festival Centre Print
Adelaide Festival Centre in association with the Adelaide Art Orchestra presents
Christmas Proms

It's already beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...which means it will once again be time for the annual Adelaide Festival Centre Christmas Proms, being presented in the Festival Theatre on 7 & 8 December 2007 starring Rachael Beck and Andy Seymour, with the Adelaide Art Orchestra, conducted by Timothy Sexton, and Adelaide Vocal Project.

Come and get into the Christmas spirit with all of your favourite carols, including Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, masterworks from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite and many more! As well as two evening performances, this year there is the addition of an 11am matinee performance on 7 December.

As one of Australia's most in-demand performers in musical theatre and television, Rachael Beck has appeared in many popular musicals including Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables, Singin' in the Rain, Cabaret and The Sound of Music, and has made numerous television appearances in programs such as Stingers, Mercury, The Feds, This Man This Woman, GP, Flying Doctors, as well as her popular role as 'Sam' in Hey Dad over three years, and most recently in the Channel 7 series It Takes Two.

Andy Seymour has been described by many as "the voice of Elvis", and for decades has been in high demand locally, interstate and internationally as one of the foremost interpreters of the music of Elvis Presley, as well as a highly entertaining performer with vocal ability which creates a soulful, sweet sound equally adept in a crooning ballad through to Gospel, powerhouse Soul and high energy Rock 'n' Roll. Now based in America, he last performed at the Adelaide Festival Centre during his sold-out show The Gospel According to Elvis at this year's Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Making their return after a successful 2006 Adelaide Festival Centre Christmas Proms performance are the Adelaide Art Orchestra and the popular Adelaide Vocal Project. Founded in 2001 by Artistic Director Timothy Sexton and concertmaster Carolyn Lam, the Adelaide Art Orchestra is a regular feature in Adelaide's dynamic music scene, with 2007 engagements including the Opera Australia production of The Pirates of Penzance starring David Campbell at the Festival Theatre, the Australian premiere of Little Women with State Opera of South Australia and several events in the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Adelaide Vocal Project has performed at many of Adelaide's popular venues and events, including Einstein On The Beach - a collaboration by Phillip Glass and Leigh Warren and Dancers at the 2006 Adelaide Festival of Arts - and in several concerts with the State Opera of South Australia.

The final special guest making a return appearance is the Festival Theatre's ever-popular mighty Silver Jubilee Organ! A remarkable floating pipe organ, this impressive instrument is certain to add the final touch to a magical evening.

Don't miss this musical treat for the whole family!
