“***** show of the week” - The Skinny guide to Edinburgh Festival
“An awesome performance" - British Theatre Guide
“In its glorious entirety this play is an absolute treat"- Edinburgh Festival Magazine
“...wickedly observant... go see this..." - The Scotsman
Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival hit comes to Cube 37 at Frankston Arts Centre for two performances in October.
“So there’s three people on the panel. An academic bureaucrat from the Australian Film Commission, a posh English bloke who distributes for Film Four and a fat yank with a cigar who communicates via a series of desperate clichés. I have to become three totally different writers to reach them. This really happened to me. It’s as funny as hell, but it wasn’t at the time.”
This solo tour de force is dominated by a cast of ‘thousands’ – including Clint Eastwood, Russell Crowe, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta Jones, Chris Tucker, Robert De Niro, and Sean Connery, who glitter through a range of exotic locations – India, Iraq, Paris, London and Hong Kong. Houghton performs with uncanny precision in a cliché- ridden, panic-stricken, last-minute re-writing fiasco that vividly strips bare the business of show-business HOLLYWOOD style.
Peter Houghton is a seven-time Victorian Green Room Award nominee and four-time winner. Prior to THE PITCH, Peter and Anne collaborated on The Sax Diaries for Melbourne Fringe and Comedy Festivals, which won a Melbourne Fringe Award.
Following its sell out premiere at La Mama, THE PITCH transferred to the Malthouse Theatre for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April where it extended its season and sold out and will tour Australia for more than 200 performances in 2007/8.
