A no-holds-barred relationship that transcends boundaries.
First performed as part of Darlinghurst Theatre Company's In The Raw Festival in 2005, One More Than One has had further development with Riverside Theatres Parramatta and has gone on to wow audiences at Brisbane and Melbourne Fringe Festivals. Walking away with "Best of Fringe" in Brisbane. Darlinghurst Theatre Company is excited to welcome back to the stage the theatrical gem, One More Than One.
One More Than One is a compelling and beautiful production with moments of true tenderness that will leave you breathless. It masterfully incorporates fascinating physical performance, film imagery and a provocative soundscape.
A man and a woman search online for the ultimate connection. She is a short statured feisty redhead, searching for the perfect mate.... He is a 6ft Asian, computer gamer, boxed in and a slave to his next adrenalin rush.
They communicate, interact... then they engage. While pushing each other's buttons is fun, is it a substitute for true contact?
Emma J Hawkins, a short statured performer, who has acted and toured with such companies as Sydney Theatre Company and Arena Theatre Company. She performed in and co-produced The Maids, a classical play by Jean Genet. She branched into physical theatre with PlazaReal which led to devising her own show One More Than One. 2007’s repertoire also includes Sideshow Alley (new Oz musical) and King Lear in Tasmania. She has been involved in many corporate events as The Divine Miss Em, most known for her dancing prowess. She’s also Artistic Director of Atypical Theatre Company, a company that focuses on fair representation of disability in Performing Arts.
Keith Lim is an emerging hybrid physical theatre performer who combines contemporary dance, spoken text, dance floor breakdance, puppetry and kung fu. In 2007, Keith was mentored by Kate Champion under Youth Arts Queensland’s SPARK Mentorship Program; he danced in Sydney Opera House’s production of danceTANK 07: Freedom to Launch choreographed by Anton; puppeteered with Erth in a sell-out season of Gondwana: Land of The Giants; was the recipient of Next Wave’s Kickstart development grant; and is currently working on How Big Is Your Gun, a multimedia performance event incorporating video gaming and Le Parkour in Western Sydney. This tour of One More Than One sees the launch of his new performance company KidsTheseDays.
