From Russia with fire and passion… Kirill Gerstein’s pianism has been hailed worldwide for its exceptional dazzle and poetry. While some artists wait decades to find their way to Carnegie Hall, Gerstein performed there at the age of just 27 after making a splash on the competition circuit from Poland to Tel Aviv. Gerstein came to classical music late – he taught himself jazz piano after listening to his parents’ record collection – and after being discovered by vibraphonist Gary Burton, he moved to the United States aged 14 to become Berklee College’s youngest student. Since then he’s played with many top-flight orchestras around the world.
