Now the sky’s water, the wind is fire, the earth’s a sun and Heaven is death. There’re too many ways beyond reason. Hotel Obsino
Clinging like lichen to the banks of a river, an old gothic Hotel houses outsiders who seek refuge from the virtual progress of a digitized technopolis, the delusions they inhabit making life inside the rotting walls real. Enter a naive escapee from a banal system who searches for genuine connection - the Hotel - but it is not what he imagined.
Exposed, the visitor’s life is altered forever.
Celebrating complex lives of contradiction, abjection, honesty and invention in a wicked humour, Hotel Obsino explores strength in adverse conditions of poverty and fear. Responding to the silenced voices in Australian society Hotel Obsino draws the lives of ‘disappeared’ phantoms which remain long after the structure is in ruins.
