Moonshadows - A Magical Tribute To Cat Stevens Print
MoonshadowMoonshadows pays tribute to one of the world’s best known folk-pop singers Cat Stevens, in a musical journey told in words and music. Starring Darren Coggan, written and directed by Peter Cox with Musical Direction by Naomi Coggan, Moonshadows will take fans of Cat Stevens back in time.

Album sales of over 40 million, sold out stadiums across the globe, even in Australia during the ‘70’s almost one in two people owned a Cat Stevens album. So the question most often asked of Cat Stevens over these past thirty years or more is…why? Why did he disappear from the music scene?

At the height of his career in the mid 70’s, Cat Stevens, discontent with the excesses of fame and fortune, abandoned the music business.

Darren Coggan, through words and music, will take you on the journey that was the Cat Stevens legend, to discover the man behind the songs the world sang along with.

Featuring 24 of Cat Steven’s greatest hits including, Moonshadow, Morning Has Broken, Father & Son, Peace Train, Wild World, Where Do The Children Play and many more, as performed by Darren and his band.

“I have been a huge fan of Cat Steven’s music from a young age so to pay tribute to this wonderful artist who is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring singer songwriters of our time, is a great privilege. I consider it a tremendous responsibility to do justice to the man, his music and his fans.”

1999 saw Darren cast as "Richie Cunningham" in the World Premiere Arena Mega Musical “Happy Days” presented by Dainty Consolidated Entertainment, which toured Australia extensively.

In January 2001 Darren was awarded his first Golden Guitar at the Toyota Country Music Awards of Australia. This same year Darren hosted Foxtel’s top rating television show "Out & About - The Great Aussie Pub Tour" and made a guest appearance on the award winning Channel 7 drama "All Saints".

Darren was cast to play the dual role of "Teen Angel" and "Vince Fontaine" in "Grease - The Mega Musical" presented by SEL & Gordon Frost Organisation, which toured Australia in the "Big Top" throughout 2001-2002.

Darren followed this up with the national “Big Top” tour of "Shout - the musical of the Wild One", presented by Jacobsen Entertainment in which he played several roles including 'Col Joye'.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Darren was awarded the ‘Centenary Medal’ – ‘For Services to Australian Society’ in 2003. This same year, he released his second album, "Balancing Act", for which he was awarded ‘Australian Independent Male Vocalist of the Year’.

He made another two guest appearances on the award winning Channel 7 drama, “All Saints” in 2004/05 and performed alongside John Farnham as Teen Angel, Richard Wilkins as Vince Fontaine, Rob Mills as Johnny Casino and Toby Allen as Kenicke in “Grease - The Arena Spectacular”, presented by SEL & GFO.
