Actor and Singer Justine Clarke is bringing her ARIA-nominated children’s album I Like To Sing!
to life as a musical theatre show and will tour to Geelong, Moonee
Ponds, Frankston, Melbourne, Wollongong and Canberra, from 24 September
to 10 October.
I Like To Sing! sees Justine in her backyard on a hot
summer’s day eating watermelon, singing and looking for something to
do! From the garden to the library, to the splash and puddles of a
summer shower, the show will incorporate all the tunes of I Like To Sing! weaved through a magical story.
A regular presenter on ABC TV’s Play School Justine, who
earlier this year appeared in the third season of the critically
acclaimed TV series Love My Way, is looking forward to bringing her No
1 selling album to theatre in a way that is just as entertaining for
parents as it is for children.
“I Like To Sing! is a show for anybody who loves a tune,” said Justine.
Justine will be joined on stage by pianist/songwriter/musical director Peter Dasent, continuing a happy collaboration first established at Play School where Peter has been resident pianist since 2000. Passionate about making music for children that would also appeal to parents, Peter composed and the two of them recorded the I Like To Sing!
album during casual recording sessions over a year. It is with great
pleasure that they now bring the album alive with the magic of theatre.
Completing the show’s ensemble is percussionist Jeremy Cook, who brings to the line-up a wealth of experience and a dazzling array of magical sounds.
I Like To Sing! with Justine Clarke is commissioned and produced by Sydney Opera House in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
