Mel Brooks has turned his classic, cult film into a big, bold, brassy Broadway musical that swept up nearly every Tony Award for 2001; a return to those good old show tunes with a good old rollicking story line that’s as crazy and wacky as Get Smart, Blazing Saddles or Flying High.
