St Nicholas | Perth Theatre Company Print
St NicholasPerth Theatre Company’s third production for 2007 St Nicholas is a deftly written cautionary tale by the acclaimed Irish playwright Conor McPherson, best known for his international hit The Weir.

The incomparable Peter Holland returns to the stage to star in St Nicholas and prove vampires and theatre critics aren’t quite the same. It’s a macabrely funny fable about a disillusioned and
jaded Dublin theatre critic at a crisis in his life. The critic leaves town and follows a beautiful young actress to London where he meets a band of vampires, procures victims for them and finally finds redemption.

Hit of the Off-Broadway 1998 New York Season and Winner of the 1997 Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright (The Weir), Conor McPherson is arguably one of the most original, significant and acclaimed writers of his generation with the London Telegraph describing him as “the finest dramatist of his generation...”

Perth Theatre Company’s Associate Director Melissa Cantwell will direct Peter Holland in this bravura play about sex, theatre critics and vampires, complimented by Matt Marshall’s lighting design and Kingsley Reeve’s sound design.

A production not worth missing.

“Remarkable! The most rewarding theatrical experience… a story about hope, obsession, power, love, lust, illusion...very funny!" THE BOSTON GLOBE
