Chasing the Lollyman | Mark Sheppard Print
EXPLORING ONE COLOURFUL IDENTITY

One man show to celebrate originality and Aboriginality

Are you ready for a theatre experience like no other?  Are you ready to be shocked, surprised, to learn and to understand how family, culture and every experience makes us who we are?  Chasing the Lollyman is a one man show performed by Mark Sheppard, co-devised with Liz Skitch and opening 28 January – 13 February 2010 at Metro Arts.

Chasing the Lollyman will push boundaries, it will enlighten, it will entertain and prompt so many emotions that you are bound to be exhausted by the end of it, but left wanting more.  Join Mark Sheppard, one of Queensland most dynamic and funny Indigenous performers, as he takes audiences on a journey through his life.

In this premier season Sheppard goes where no Indigenous man has gone before, taking it upon himself to instruct the audience on his culture in such skits as Finding your inner Aboriginality and the Murri Superhero, Muh Man while throwing in a little stand up with his views on footy, neighbours, spirituality and dancing in public.

At the heart of this unique body of work are one man’s beliefs about contemporary Aboriginal identity.  To ensure Chasing the Lollyman leaves a lasting impression for all audience, Indigenous or otherwise, Sheppard has enlisted a variety of artists to create his world onstage, including dramaturg Nadine McDonald- Dowd, visual artist Bianca Beetson, musician Kimba Fatiaki, director Liz Skitch and the team at deBASE, together with the Kuril Dhagun Centre (State Library of Queensland) and the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts.

Best known for his role in the 2006 deBASE comedy hit The Clown from Snowy River, Mark Sheppard is a must see in Chasing the Lollyman, yet another thought provoking comic offering from the always innovative deBASE, that urges all of the audience to follow your dreams and make a positive change.

The Chasing the Lollyman season is from 28 January – 13 February 2010 at Metro Arts.
