“Deliriously, rapturously over-the-top” – NY Theatre
Inspired by the original 1936 shock-horror ‘educational’ film of the same name, this very, very naughty musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana. Be shocked and chastened as you watch them on their hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence. Oh yes… and singing all the way!
Meet Jimmy Harper and Mary Lane, a lovable pair of wholesome teens who hold hands, sip hot cocoa and think pure thoughts while studying Romeo and Juliet at school. Then discover the seamier side of life at the Reefer Den, populated by drug-addled denizens of the night.
What follows will make you think twice before leaving the safety of your home!
Audiences have been unable to resist the satiric fun of REEFER MADNESS. Its deliciously cheeky – and, yes, totally addictive - musical numbers range from big Broadway-style showstoppers to swing tunes like "Down at the Ol' Five and Dime" and the Vegas-style "Listen to Jesus, Jimmy," featuring JC Himself leading a chorus of angelic showgirls.
This dynamic show will go straight to your head!
