Peter Houghton’s sell out phenomenon of the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Pitch, is returning to Malthouse Theatre in December to end 2007 on a hilarious high note.
This lively one man spectacle of Tinseltown at its shallow and superficial best, burst to life at La Mama in 2006 and quickly became Melbourne’s hottest must-see comedy, winning Houghton Best Male Performer and, with director Anne Browning, Best New Australian Play for Independent Theatre at the 2007 Green Room Awards.
After its triumphant main stage premiere at the Malthouse in the 2007 Comedy Festival and a tour to this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival The Pitch is back to thrill anyone who’s so far missed out.
In the frenetic hour Walter Weinermann has to sell his script to a hard-bitten panel of producers, Houghton inhabits the A to Z list of Hollywood heavies, Clint Eastwood to Catherine Zeta-Jones, jump-cutting from Parisian bars to the garish streets of Hong Kong.
