Dungeons and Dragons the Opera
The Kitchen Table Version

This November, award-winning musical misfits TRIPOD stumble into the Arts Centre for a FULL TILT early bird peak at their brand new epic, Dungeons and Dragons the Opera.

Scod (a wizard), Yon (a priest) and Gatesy (a warrior who dreams of being a bard) journey deep into the metaphorical forests of fantasy gaming in a hilariously lo-fi retelling of an epic tale with lots of stats and maps of fake places. Combining classic old-school character comedy with songs that liberally plunder the great operatic traditions, whilst cross-referencing the D&D Players’ Handbook with the bible, it’s the Ring Cycle meets the Three Stooges.

FULL TILT offers a limited audience the chance to see TRIPOD’s latest offering in creative transit – which in this case means madcap musical mayhem WITH SWORDS – for 4 shows only at the Fairfax Studio.

TRIPOD will then whistle up their dragons and fly off to the prestigious Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art where they will undertake an intensive workshop period as Artists in Residence. After a fortnight of living in a fantasy world, they will then be let loose on an unsuspecting American public for a showing in January 2010.

Then, after a bit more trimming, waxing and buffing, onwards to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in March 2010 and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April.

Can life be reduced to the roll of a twenty-sided dice? Can dragons love? Can they sing the blues? Come and find out. Gold pieces or precious gems accepted. No evil wizard lords allowed.
