 A much loved Off-Broadway musical hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes invites you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom from 22 August – 1 September this year at Fortyfivedownstairs! Here we meet The Wonderettes; four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to our girls performing live, classic hits from the '50s and '60s. You've never had this much fun at a prom, and you'll never forget The Marvelous Wonderettes – they're a must take musical trip down memory lane! "One irresistible musical! An utter charm bomb!" - The New York Times Featuring four of Melbourne's up and coming stars of the musical theatre scene, The Marvelous Wonderettes will transport fortyfivedownstairs back to the era of musical hits such as Lollipop, Dream Lover, Stupid Cupid, Lipstick on Your Collar, It's My Party, Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me and over 20 other classics! A true night of the 50s and 60s, audience members ARE the other guests at the prom; so get Dad to drop you off early, grab a table and make sure you get your prom photo taken for posterity! It's highly likely that Betty Jean, Missy Lee, Cindy Lou and Suzy could break curfew on this one... 2012 heralds the launch of exciting new independent theatre company Monster Media into Melbourne's diverse arts scene. With seasons of cabaret and musical theatre slated, the company aims to produce high quality cutting edge theatre from Australia, and around the world.
